WKF: SEB, Ikea and Mckinsey CEOs to Share ESG Vision and Strategies

Global entrepreneurs will share their visions on environment, society and governance (ESG), the bedrock of sustainable and responsible management, and give tips to companies on how to deal with business-critical issues such as climate change, accountability and labor rights at this year’s World Knowledge Forum held in Seoul next month.
Marcus Wallenberg, a key member of the Wallenberg family who also heads Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), is among the invites to the 22nd annual international forum hosted by the Maekyung Media Group.
Sweden’s wealthiest business and philanthropy family Wallenberg, well-known in Korea as a role model of Samsung Group and other family-owned enterprises, has worked hard for more than 160 years to build and maintain long-term business sustainability. The family business has survived for five generations on a responsible governance model which strictly divides ownership and management rights. It returns most of its dividends to society every year, which are used to fund research projects at the Wallenberg Foundations.
Jesper Brodin, CEO of Ingka Group, formerly known as IKEA Group, will speak on its net-zero commitments to tackle climate change.
Ingka Group, the owner of Sweden’s furniture giant IKEA, has been active on the ESG front for years in a bid to make IKEA ‘climate positive’ by 2030, reducing greenhouse gas emissions more than what the entire IKEA value chain emits. The furniture maker is also using materials that come from more sustainable sources like wood, paper and cardboard and has set a goal to sell home solar across its global markets enabling people to produce their own renewable energy.
Jim Goodnight, CEO of the world’s leading business analytics software developer SAS, will also join the forum to share his insights with businesses and government institutions on responding to new common challenges for humanity through data analytics.
Another person under the spotlight is Bob Sternfels who took office last month as global managing partner of the world’s top consulting firm McKinsey & Company. He will offer tips and strategies that can help companies ramp up their ESG competitiveness and survive through the uncertain period.
The Maekyung Media Group will feature major speakers joining this year’s World Knowledge Forum, which kicks off on September 14, at its YouTube channel in a series titled ‘Knoweldgist.’
