Global companies such as Mercedes-Benz and Ford gather to solve waste battery problems

 

The automobile industry is facing a serious supply chain crisis in semiconductors and in others, in the aftermath of COVID-19. In addition, as battery recycling is considered an important factor in carbon neutrality, automakers are faced with an univeral challenge. More than 120 global companies have formed a network to solve the problem. The network is called "Catena-X", the first collaborative, open data ecosystem for the automotive industry of the future. Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Bosch, Continental, Ford, BYD, and Panasonic are all part of this ecosystem. The German company SAP is utilizing this network to implement a function, reverse-tracking raw materials such as lithium that have been put into automobile parts production.
