Nobel Peace Prize Laureate: Freedom, human rights, and the future of democracy

It has been one year since the commencement of the war in Ukraine, and there are no discernible signs of its conclusion. Ukrainians continue to grapple with the effects of "war trauma," as the atrocities of the conflict and the echoes of missile strikes remain vivid in their memories. Encouragingly, amidst the prolonged duration of the conflict, the calls for peace are steadily gaining momentum. During this session, you will have the opportunity to listen to the voices of Ukrainians who are living with the enduring impact of the war. Oleksandra Matvichuk, the leader of the Ukrainian civil society organization known as the Center for Civil Liberties (CCL), which was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize in the previous year, will deliver a presentation on the theme "The Future of Freedom, Human Rights, and Democracy." In this session, she will provide a firsthand account of the erosion of freedoms and human rights since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Ms. Matvichuk, a human rights lawyer, has dedicated herself to the cause of human rights since founding CCL in 2007. She gained global recognition for her efforts in promoting democracy in Ukraine and for her investigations into Russia's alleged war crimes in her homeland following Russia's invasion in February of the preceding year. ☆ WKF | http://www.wkforum.org/WKF/2021/kr/ ☆ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/worldknowledgeforum/ ☆ Youtube│https://www.youtube.com/wkforum ✻ World Knowledge Forum's lecture contents are copyrighted by Maekyung Media Group.
