The popularity and influence of esports are rapidly growing, and the industry is steadily expanding. It is no longer seen as something for a select group of enthusiasts; instead, it is broadening to become a sport for the masses. Innovation is also on the horizon, as cutting-edge technologies such as metaverses, NFTs, and artificial intelligence are poised for incorporation. While numerous possibilities abound, controversies also persist. Some still view gaming as a 'disease' needing regulations. More recently, there has been a growing concern that the investment and popularity of esports teams are not being translated into commensurate revenue and growth. Alarm bells are sounding, indicating that the industry is headed for a crisis unless a new revenue structure is devised.
