This Year’s WKF Packed with Geopolitical Issues, Climate Change and New Tech Themes
[Graphics by Song Ji-yoon] U.S. robotics unicorn Boston Dynamics CEO Marc Raibert, national security expert and Harvard professor Graham Allison, and NASA deputy administrator Pamela Melroy join the list of international influential names featuring at the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul next month devoted to the theme of post-pandemic global order. The World Knowledge Forum, Asia’s largest annual business forum hosted by Korea’s Maekyung Media Group, will kick off its three-day sessions on September 14, 2021 in central Seoul. Under the theme of “Terra Incognita: Redesigning the Global Architecture,” renowned policymakers, entrepreneurs, scientists, investors and environment activists across the world will share their insights on how the global community should address the sudden changes in the wake of unprecedented pandemic. Marc Raibert, founder and chairman of Boston Dynamics now under Hyundai Motor Group, will discuss the future of technology, and Mark Schneiter, CEO of world’s largest food company Nestle, will offer an in-depth view on business sustainability and environment, social and governance (ESG)-focused management. Graham Allison, Harvard sage and author of the famous book “Destined for War”, is invited for an intellectual faceoff with Jia Qingguo, professor of diplomacy at Pecking University, on ongoing hegemonic contest between the two largest global powers and the impact on the rest of the world. Edwin Feulner, founder of The Heritage Foundation, former Chief of the Central Intelligence Agency’s Korea Mission Center Andrew Kim and Sue Mi Terry, senior fellow for Korea at the Center for Strategic and International Studies will discuss current political affairs and power dynamics. David Kelly, Chief Global Strategist at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Paul Donovan, Chief Economist of USB Global Wealth Management, and Rabobank FX strategy head Jane Foley are some of Wall Street heavyweights joining this year’s conference to offer tips on global financial markets and their outlook. Global climate experts including Karenna Gore, daughter of U.S. former vice president Al Gore and founder of the Center for Earth Ethics, the University of Washington professor Kristie Ebi and Kang Geum-sil, Korea’s former justice minister and chair of People for Earth will exchange views on climate crisis and discuss ways to solve it. This year’s forum will feature various sessions on aerospace including aerospace economics, space exploration, and urban air mobility (UAM). Pamela Melroy, deputy administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Michael Schoellhorn, CEO of Airbus Defense and Space provide a roadmap for future space exploration. The 22nd World Knowledge Forum will be held from September 14 to 16 at Jangchung Arena and Shilla Hotel in central Seoul with both online and offline sessions. Mike Pompeo, Michael Sander, Paul Milgrom to Join WKF on Sept. 14-16 in Seoul
The World Knowledge Forum 2021 (WKF), Asia’s largest annual business forum hosted by Korea’s Maekyung Media Group, will kick off three-day sessions on September 14, 2021 in Seoul, through a mix of offline and online programs during the pandemic. Under the theme of “Terra Incognita: Redesigning the Global Architecture,” this year’s WKF will offer insights and visions from the world’s renowned economists, policymakers, and leading entrepreneurs, including former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, philosopher and Harvard professor Michael Sandel, Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Milgrom, IKEA CEO Jesper Brodin, and Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin. Sessions and lectures will be available under six sub-themes: New Business Path, Wealth Discovery, Global Power Dynamics, Race to Net-zero, Beyond Gravity, and Hello, New World. The forum will be held both offline and online, with the number of available seats for on-site participation to be adjusted depending on social restriction measures at that time.
