  Hu was born in 1963 and graduated from, majoring in Directing

He is currently a professor at the Beijing Film Academy and holds a first degree directors license in China. He is a member of the Chinese Film and Artist Association and the Chinese Film and Directors Guild. He is also a board member of The Shanghai Federation of Literary any Art circles and The Shanghai People’s Political Consultative Conference. He was chosen as one of the “The Hundred most Excellent Young Artists”honouring China’s 50th Independence day in 1999.

His films include, The Memory of Childhood (1989), Those Left Behind
(1991), Drawing (1993), Living in My Dreaming of Childhood (1994), Evil (1996), Ice Spead (1998), and many more. He has been awarded various awards, including the 17th Student Academy Awards (1990, United States), the 16th Cairo International Film Awards (1992), etc.
Hu has also been actively directing television dramas, documentaries, and advertisements, and has been rewarded with many awards in this field as well.
